At Closets by Design®, we provide a wide array of high-end accessories, finishes, knobs, and handles to make your walk-in shine. Additionally, we offer various drawer options and shelving choices.

Wall Safes

Walk-in closets are typically the largest closet system, allowing residents to put their wardrobe and accessories on display and enjoy a spacious room for dressing. Some designs include an island with drawers to add even more storage space. This type of closet typically costs between $5,000 and $10,000, with the higher range including a more complex design with more storage, features, and accessories. A Closets by Design walk-in closet can be installed in its own room or in a corner of a room as part of the larger space. For a design option that is quickly becoming popular, turn to our Brio Collection™. Designer was easy to work with and designed exactly what we needed for my dad’s apartment at a senior community.

Closets by Design®, we proudly offer four distinct closet systems to organize both your wardrobe and your life.

Closets by Design offers four distinct collections for its popular walk-in and reach-in closet systems. He ordered custom desk with a Murphy bed for his spare bedroom with deco trim on doors. The unit was supposed to be equal in height all the way across desk to Murphy bed. It was designed taller than normal because of the wall height and an alarm panel, but the Murphy bed section is not as tall as the desk.

The designer does not know me so she was doing her job.I will probably replace it when I do my basement. We now have a nice office set up in our Walworth WI home. Karrie was friendly and professional and really helped us with design. David G and Glen installed our set up and did a very good job. We highly recommend this company if you are lookkg to set up an office. I used them due to a lifetime warranty however I had 2 major issues .

A closet is more than a place to stow your suits and sweaters. It should also be a soothing space where you prep for the day ahead and relax at the end of the night. Our spacious walk-in closets allow you to dress and undress in style while your clothing and accessories are neatly displayed within easy reach. What we received was no better than what we could have purchased at Ikea. The round-trip cruises start either in Buenos Aires or Santiago and include four days of scenic cruising along the Antarctic Peninsula as well as calls at Ushuaia (Argentina), Punta Arenas (Chile) and Montevideo (Uruguay). From mariachis to margaritas, the Mexican Riviera is where it all began with our first cruise in 1965. More than 50 years later, we still visit the best ports like Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and less-traveled jewels like Loreto and Manzanillo. Sail from Los Angeles or San Francisco on five- to 11-day roundtrip cruises, and stay overnight in Cabo San Lucas on select voyages for a taste of vibrant nightlife. As the afternoon progressed, it got quite windy and a little more overcast. The winds were giving the tender boats a hard time as they slowly motored their way back to the Sapphire Princess. There was a line waiting to get onto the tender boats, but eventually, we all got on board and the ship was able to sail on, though a little later than originally scheduled. Instead, we had a bumpy day at sea as we cruised north along the wide Bransfield Strait. This was the roughest experience I have had on a big ship, and while it did not bother me, the captain did recommend that anyone prone to sea sickness should take their medication or remain in bed in their cabins. The weather was somewhat better with high clouds that allowed us to see the glaciers and the ice fields.

Occasionally we had a glimpse of a hanging glacier or one that was marching its way into the ocean. This short introduction to Patagonia convinced me that I need to come back and spend a lot more time exploring this gorgeous scenery. The UNESCO listed old town in Valparaiso is a fun mix of colorful houses, lots of unique street art and interesting graffiti.

Non-Expedition (Mainstream) Cruises to Antarctica

Sail along glacial waters and enjoy views of Elephant Island, Antarctic Sound and Gerlache Strait. As the captain stressed many times throughout the trip, his priority was the safety of the ship. Unlike expedition ships, the Sapphire Princess could not go through ice because she did not have an ice protected hull, so the goal was to avoid it.

Though most of these little guys and gals were sleeping lazily in the sand while the parents were away fishing, some were interacting with each other, totally oblivious to our presence. Since it was cold, windy, and raining, the outside spaces were not usable, so all the indoor public spaces were very busy. The crew did a nice job planning other distractions, including three additional enrichment lectures. It’s a good thing I am not bothered by sea sickness because this was the night I was schedule to partake in the Chef’s Table dinner which was fantastic.

The thermal beds and steam rooms are located within the spa space and there is no additional fee to use them. The tour boat was docked at the same pier as our ship which made it very convenient. We cruised east along the Beagle Channel for about 5 hours, doing photo stops at some of the rock outcroppings that were home to imperial cormorants and sea lions.

Meanwhile, Seabourn Venture will operate with two six-person submarines and underwater camera streaming footage to its Discovery Center. Antarctica is half a world away, but if you want to visit, you have more options than ever before. There's no shortage of evocative sights to behold on South American  vacations. Two can't-miss attractions include Tijuca National Park and Tambo Colorado.

Cruising on the Sapphire Princess to Antarctica

Our actual itinerary was a little different than what the Captain originally wanted to do, but it was a spectacular day nonetheless. From the deck of the ship, it was quite hard to get a sense of how large the peaks and glaciers were. It was only when I saw a boat or a research station that the scale of the scenery became evident.

In the middle of the night the ship finally set sail, but only to the nearby port of San Antonio, Chile. I understand that my boarding experience in Valparaiso was quite an exception and that this type of weather event was very unusual. Before we reached Antarctica, Captain Todd gave a navigational presentation explaining what his scenic cruising goal was for our 4 days in the Antarctic Peninsula for our specific cruise. We were also given a map that showed where and when we would be each day. I learned on this trip that an Antarctic itinerary is the hoped for plan but the weather dictates the reality. As Captain Todd said “it’s what we want to do, not necessarily what we can do”.

Because of the weather, a local pilot could not get on and off the ship safely and the ship was not allowed to do this sailing without the experience of the local pilot on board. Set sail across the globe on a truly epic adventure – a Princess World Cruise. On a voyage spanning more than 100 days, and travelling over 33,000 nautical miles, you’ll visit more than 40 destinations in over two dozen countries.

Antarctica, once off limits to all but research-station scientists, is becoming an increasingly popular cruise destination. The ship, which will feature a series of new onboard spaces and the fleet’s largest casino, will operate a full season in the Mediterranean from multiple departure ports, including Barcelona, Rome, Athens, and Southampton. The ship is slated to reposition to Fort Lauderdale in November 2024. Holland America's 1,964-passenger Oosterdam will sail 22-day itineraries from Buenos Aires to Santiago and include a stop in the Falkland Islands and scenic cruising in the Palmer Archipelago of Antarctica.

Between the two ships, the line will offer port calls or scenic cruising at 26 destinations in 14 countries. Princess Cruises will feature 11 unique itineraries and 15 total Antarctica and South America departures. More than 50 cruise ships are approved to sail in Antarctica for the upcoming season, according to the vessel directory of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators. This ranges from expedition ships to ocean ships from mainstream cruise lines that operate scenic cruising along the Antarctic Peninsula. Indulge in a feast for the senses on an epic South America cruise with Princess®.

Sister ships Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris carry 364 passengers apiece and mark the start of the line's expansion into expedition cruising. You can expect onboard scientists, an enclosed marina where people can board Rigid Inflatable Boats and Zodiacs from a stable surface, and three different temperature-controlled pools, as part of the indoor-outdoor Aquavit Terrace. The bay was quite calm as we cruised about 2 hours, taking in the spectacular views. I landed in Santiago, Chile in the early morning and took an airport taxi to my hotel in Valparaiso where we were scheduled to board the ship. It was about a 90 minute drive and cost about $140 which I paid for in cash with US dollars once I reached my destination. Besides ice, the other common obstacle was the weather, highly variable weather. The Drake passage gets all the attention for horrendous waves, but the reality is that storms and winds continuously travel around the perimeter of the Antarctic continent in a clockwise fashion. In the Drake Passage the weather is amplified because of the bottleneck formed by the landmasses of Cape Horn and the Antarctica Peninsula.

All these extra bodies were there to provide more eyes to keep a lookout as we sailed. More than 99% of the continent is permanently covered in ice and though it’s counterintuitive, the Antarctic ice sheet is actually a desert because the annual precipitation is so low. This ice that has formed over millions of years is not static – it flows from the center toward the coastline at a “glacial’ pace which can take as long as 100,000 years to reach the water. In 1959 the Antarctic treaty was put in place to protect this unique environment. Now, countries from all over the globe have set up research stations and work in peaceful union all across the continent, sharing information and data.

Besides Captain Todd McBain, there was a second Princess ship captain to assist along with two highly experienced ice pilots that each had over 30 years in the field as captains of ice breakers. (And as I later learned, Captain Todd was also Princess’ only licensed ice pilot). Increased tourism didn’t start till the late 1980’s, and since its discovery only about 1 million people have seen Antarctica – that’s about 0.01% of the total world population. Currently about 50,000 people visit each year through a variety of travel programs.

Onboard Antarctic cruises, naturalists offer lectures and lead sightseeing excursions. Antarctic cruises typically depart from South American ports like Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands and Buenos Aires or Ushuaia in Argentina, and cruise the Drake Passage. Cruises to Antarctica include highlights such as the South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula and a number of peak-filled islands. Visit the most popular islands – Maui, Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island – while only unpacking once. Plus, enjoy a More Ashore late-night stay in Honolulu on most sailings.

In December, the Antarctic Wildlife Health Network reported the first suspected case of avian influenza in Antarctica. When it finally reaches the ocean the ice will eventually break off, often, into large, flat sheets.

As soon as I boarded, I booked the Princess offered “Penguin Rookery Navigation” excursion. Since we arrived in Ushuaia early, this worked out well because Princess adjusted the start time of the excursion accordingly. Because of the delay with embarkation and setting out from Valparaiso, the captain had announced on day 1 that we would be skipping the planned stop in Punta Arenas. We also sped up so that we could reach Ushuaia early in the morning in order to avoid the high winds that were predicted for the afternoon on the day of our arrival in Ushuaia. Note that the cruise terminal in Valparaiso is not located at the pier where the ship is docked (the pier and harbor are primarily designed for cargo ships). After going through the Princess check in process at the cruise terminal building, a shuttle bus took us to the ship’s boarding area.

I think there will be at least one more trip to the white continent for me in the future. I am sharing my list of what I packed specifically for the Antarctica portion of the trip. Packing for this cruise was somewhat more challenging than usual since I needed clothes that spanned a temperature range of 32 F to 90 F. I was flying on to spend a few days in the Iguazu area to see the famous waterfalls. I followed this up with an afternoon at the spa, getting a facial, using the thermal beds and sauna and also the hot tub. I then enjoyed an afternoon tea snack with a view before getting dressed up for formal night.
